Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin resigned on July 24, 2026.

Resignation letter submitted to National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed returned early from Thailand to handle constitutional procedures.

Speaker will serve as Acting President until a new president is elected within 90 days.

A press conference is scheduled for 5:00 PM local time at the National Parliament Building.
