Parents of Devansh Shouria, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, are demanding a speedy probe into his death after anaesthesia at a private hospital in Payyannur, Kannur.
The child was taken to the hospital on July 5 for suturing a lip injury and became unconscious after anaesthesia administered by Dr. Anjali Poduval, later dying at another hospital.
A district-level medical panel found three of five members concluding medical negligence, with one finding no negligence and another neutral; the report has been sent to a state-level panel.
Father Sooraj met Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala requesting a Special Investigation Team and plans to meet Chief Minister V D Satheesan.
Police registered a case against Dr. Anjali Poduval, and the family demands two other treating doctors also be made accused.
