Preliminary assessment of hub-and-spoke model conducted at Pune airport

Preliminary assessment for the hub-and-spoke model was conducted at Pune airport on Sunday.

Senior officials from Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India, CISF, customs, immigration, and scheduled airlines participated.

The hub-and-spoke model aims to connect passengers from non-metro cities to international destinations via a single hub with optimized schedules.

The assessment included a presentation on operational requirements, benefits, and infrastructure upgrades, followed by a survey of passenger processing facilities and workflows.

Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke said the model could improve connectivity and operational efficiency, with inputs to be compiled for a feasibility study.
