Ludhiana: ‘Publicity over education’: Teachers, oppn question CM’s pic on school bags

Around 23,000 school bags have reached Ludhiana district; nearly 18,000 have been dispatched to different blocks for distribution among Class 11 and 12 government school students.

Teachers and opposition leaders criticized the bags for featuring the chief minister's photograph, calling it a publicity exercise rather than an educational initiative.

Democratic Teachers' Front district president Daljit Singh Samrala argued students from Class 6 onwards need bags more due to heavier books.

School education secretary Sonali Giri said there was no political motive behind the design; the committee selected it from several options.
