Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) trained 385 women from self-help groups in waste management and recycling under the 'Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao' campaign.
The workshops were held at eight locations across Navi Mumbai, covering operation of dry waste processing centres, 3R centres, e-waste collection, and upcycling.
Participants learned to manufacture incense sticks from discarded floral offerings (nirmalya) and produce organic compost and biogas.
The programme was jointly organised by NMMC's Solid Waste Management and Social Development Departments with Kaushalya Multicreations.
Trained women received certificates, aiming to create sustainable livelihoods through environmentally responsible enterprises under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0.
