Eight members of a family were injured, four critically, after their Jeep crashed into a parked container truck on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway near Bhiwandi.

The accident occurred early Thursday on the Sonale village stretch amid light rain and poor visibility, as the family was returning to Chalisgaon after dropping relatives at Mumbai Airport for an Umrah pilgrimage.

Police suspect reduced visibility due to rain caused the driver to fail to notice the parked truck in time.

Authorities are investigating whether the container truck had mandatory reflective markers, hazard lights, or warning triangles, highlighting safety concerns about illegally parked heavy vehicles on the highway.
