Candidate selection rests with me, not Akash Anand: Mayawati

Mayawati said candidate selection rests with her, not Akash Anand, dismissing rumours about his role.

Mayawati has personally interviewed and finalised over two dozen candidates for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Akash Anand will announce candidates for some seats at public meetings, as already finalised by the party.

Mayawati stated Anand's campaign role has nothing to do with deciding candidates or raising his stature.

Anand was expelled from the BSP on March 4, 2025, after being removed as national coordinator on March 3, 2025.
