Thirteen Die in Tourist Plane Crash Over Peru's Nazca Lines

A tourist plane operated by Aerodiana crashed near the Nazca Lines in Peru, killing 13 people.

The Cessna Caravan C-208 carried 11 foreign tourists from Germany, Italy, and Spain, plus two crew members.

The crew reported an emergency at about 1:00 p.m. local time before losing contact and crashing near Socos.

The crash caused a fire, making rescue impossible, and the cause is under investigation.

Flights over the Nazca Lines had been suspended the previous day due to strong winds.
