5 years after goat trader’s beheading, man gets life term

Jagir Singh, 67, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Mohali court for beheading goat trader Sucha Singh in 2021.

The murder occurred over a ₹40,000 dispute related to goat trading.

Jagir attacked Sucha with a sword, buried the headless body at his farmhouse, and disposed of the severed head separately.

The victim's pet dog led family to the body on June 21, 2021, and the head was recovered 15 days later based on Jagir's confession.

The court denied the death penalty, ruling the case did not meet the 'rarest of rare' criteria.
