PMPML inspects prototype; to induct 500 new CNG buses

PMPML and CIRT inspected a prototype of 500 new CNG buses, recommending changes to rear-row seating and interior components.

The new buses include an automatic fire detection and suppression system with nitrogen-based extinguishing equipment.

The buses are produced by Ashok Leyland at a facility in Chakan.

PMPML will induct the buses in two phases: 250 within a couple of months, and the remaining 250 shortly after.

All 500 buses are expected to be operational within five to six months, enhancing Pune's public transport fleet.
