Pune mayor seeks additional 25 TMC water quota

Pune mayor Manjusha Nagpure met Maharashtra water resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil in Mumbai on Sunday and submitted a memorandum seeking an additional 25 TMC water quota for the city.

Nagpure requested a special state-wide drive to remove accumulated silt from the Khadakwasla, Panshet, Varasgaon and Temghar dams to restore their storage capacity.

The mayor proposed the creation of a state-level Mula-Mutha River Rejuvenation Mission for river desilting, pollution control and flood management.

Nagpure sought the water resources department's No Objection Certificate for two proposed bridges in the Dhayari area to ease chronic traffic congestion.

The minister assured that the proposals would be examined and directed concerned departments to take necessary action.
