Pune city police rank 29th in response to dial 112 emergency calls

Pune city police ranked 29th in Maharashtra for average response time to dial 112 emergency calls, at 7 minutes and 10 seconds, for July 1-31, 2026.

Sangli police topped the rankings with an average response time of 4.11 minutes, followed by Kolhapur (4.15 minutes) and Satara (4.27 minutes).

The dial 112 emergency response support system (ERSS), launched in September 2021, centralizes emergency calls and uses GPS-enabled patrol vehicles to dispatch the nearest police unit.

During July 1-31, 2026, Pune city police received 23,887 calls; 23,551 were closed, and 22,268 were assigned to field marshals.

Assistant commissioner of police Vivek Pawar said Pune police reduced call diversion time from 2-3 minutes to 30-40 seconds, and now dispatch field marshals based on caller location regardless of jurisdiction.
