Phoolan, Richie Mehta-directed biopic of Phoolan Devi to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

Richie Mehta's 'Phoolan', a biopic of Phoolan Devi, will premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

The film is inspired by the 1997 book 'I, Phoolan - The Autobiography of India's Bandit Queen'.

It chronicles a 48-hour siege where over 2,000 armed men surrounded a village to kill Phoolan Devi.

Sneha Kumari plays the titular role, and the film is a Prime Original set to release on Prime Video after its festival run.

The screening is on September 16 at the Princess of Wales Theatre as part of TIFF's Special Presentations section.
