Sandesh Tanaji Thorat, 34, sentenced to remainder-of-life imprisonment under section 376E of the Indian Penal Code for repeat rape offences.
Special Judge Surekha A Sinha convicted Thorat for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in Chembur in October 2022.
Thorat had two prior convictions for raping minor girls and was facing another trial for a child sexual offence at Deonar police station.
The court invoked section 376E, which deals with repeat offenders, citing that Thorat posed a serious threat to society.
The court ordered the District Legal Services Authority, Mumbai, to award compensation to the survivor.
