3 held for multiple thefts at abandoned marriage palace in Ludhiana

Three persons — Jagpreet Singh, Lovepreet Singh, and Vikramjit Singh, alias Bobby — were caught red-handed stealing from an abandoned marriage palace in Dhandra village, Ludhiana.

The stolen property recovered includes 125 ceiling fans, an inverter, batteries from a solar power system, 16 chairs, around 50 aluminium ceiling panels, and multiple gates, windows, doors, door frames, taps, and other fixtures.

The marriage palace was built five years ago on panchayat land under the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Scheme but was never used and remained locked, allowing repeated thefts over several months.

The accused were caught after watchman Balwinder Singh heard noises and alerted the village sarpanch, who called police and residents; the suspects were found collecting items when apprehended.

A case has been registered under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and police are working to recover the stolen property.
