SC orders separate space near MP's Bhojshala for Friday namaz between 1pm and 3pm
Supreme Court ordered a separate open space near Madhya Pradesh's Bhojshala for Muslims to offer Friday namaz between 1pm and 3pm.
The court directed that any structural alterations by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at Bhojshala require prior Supreme Court permission.
The existing arrangement at Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex remains ad hoc until final adjudication of the case.
The bench, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, urged both Hindu and Muslim sides to exercise restraint due to the sensitive nature of the dispute.
The Madhya Pradesh high court had previously declared the Bhojshala complex a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, quashing an ASI order allowing Muslim prayers.
