#NashaMukt. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences turns to social media to spur anti-drugs drive

  1. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has asked its 1,500 affiliate colleges to use social media for an anti-drugs campaign under the Nasha-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

  2. RGUHS vice-chancellor Bhagavan BC said the university will select and train students from different colleges to act as social warriors, creating content and raising awareness.

  3. Trained students will visit pre-university colleges and schools to educate students aged 15 and above about substance abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle.

  4. RGUHS recently conducted a workshop with around 150 students to assess interest and understand challenges, finding that some preferred social media while others preferred in-person talks.

  5. The university has strengthened its own social media presence, with its convocation programme reaching 6 lakh users, and asks colleges to circulate only verified official content.
