Bengaluru hospital records 3,000 robotic surgeries
Fortis Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, became the fastest hospital in India to complete 3,000 robot-assisted surgeries using the Da Vinci Xi surgical system.
The milestone was achieved eight years after the hospital launched its robotic surgery programme in 2018.
The hospital performed robotic surgeries across 12 specialties, including urology, kidney transplantation, gynaecology, surgical oncology, gastrointestinal, bariatric, and cardiac surgery.
Fortis Hospital is one of the few in India with two Da Vinci Xi robotic systems and launched the country's first Total Robot Enabled and Assisted Transplant (TREAT) programme for kidney transplants.
Health minister UT Khader said Karnataka is a centre of excellence in healthcare, emphasizing that innovation should improve patient care and outcomes.
