2 held as Delhi Police busts child adoption racket

Delhi Police arrested two men from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, including a 46-year-old physiotherapist, for allegedly running an inter-state child adoption racket.

The accused are suspected of cheating around 25 people by posing as facilitators of legal adoptions, primarily targeting couples seeking to adopt boys.

A 30-year-old woman from Burari filed a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal in November 2025, alleging she was cheated of ₹1.37 lakh by the accused, who promised to arrange adoption of a baby boy.

The accused extracted money under various heads such as registration fees, booking charges, transportation expenses, and baby receiving charges, and sent forged NGO receipts, ultrasound reports, and fake medical documents to appear genuine.

An e-FIR was registered at the north district's cyber police station, and police analyzed call detail records of nearly 100 mobile numbers and IMEI numbers as part of the investigation.
