'Double standards': Pakistan rejects UN report on civilian casualties in Afghanistan strikes

Pakistan's military rejected a UN report documenting civilian casualties from cross-border strikes, calling it 'baseless'.

The UNAMA report documented 499 civilians killed and 1,216 injured in cross-border violence from October 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, attributing all to Pakistani security forces.

Pakistani airstrikes on June 28 in Paktya, Paktika, and Kunar provinces killed 28 civilians and injured 189, with a strike in Chamkani district hitting a residence twice during rescue.

Pakistan's military spokesman Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said strikes targeted hideouts of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), not civilians, and accused the UN of 'double standards'.

Pakistan recorded 3,145 terrorism incidents during its wider counterterrorism campaign.
