China gets just 1 FDI approval in India in FY26, Hong Kong secures 13 proposals

India approved one Chinese FDI proposal worth Rs 1 crore in FY26.

Hong Kong received 13 approvals totaling Rs 610.42 crore.

Singapore led with 5 proposals worth Rs 3,259.88 crore; UK had 5 (Rs 2,477.67 crore), Thailand 2 (Rs 1,600 crore).

Press Note 3, introduced in April 2020, requires prior approval for land-border countries; March 2026 revision eased rules for non-controlling ownership up to 10% but excludes entities registered in China and Hong Kong.

Cumulative Chinese FDI (April 2000–March 2026) is $2.51 billion, 0.32% of India's total FDI inflows.
