'Dhurandhar' maker on casting Ranveer Singh: We wanted performers not stars

The film's massive budget made hiring expensive actors unviable, so they prioritized a strong performer.

Deshpande highlighted Singh's ability to transform into characters like Bajirao, Khilji, and Gully Boy.

Singh and director Aditya Dhar were fully committed to the project, with Singh doing nothing else during filming.
