in5points
Heavy rainfall over 16 hours caused flooding in Dahanu taluka, disrupting rivers, streams, and drains.
Four members of the Shankar Gaikwad family were trapped in a hut in Kasa village by rising floodwaters.
Local youth including Atul Ravate, Prem Dhodi, and Ganesh Gaikwad, along with Police Inspector Amar Patil, rescued the family using ropes and tubes.
Rescuers braved 20-22 feet deep water and strong currents to bring the family safely across more than 100 meters of floodwater.
The Dahanu–Jawhar and Kasa–Saiwan state highways were submerged, causing traffic disruptions and road closures.
