Pedestrian falls into open slush-covered drain in Nalasopara

Mohammed Ansari (34) fell into an open, slush-covered drain at Wakanpada in Nalasopara East on Saturday at around 3:30 pm.

Residents pulled Ansari out and took him to a hospital; Nalasopara police registered an accident report.

The drain was on a road linking Nalasopara railway station to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, where pipeline-laying work is underway.

Local residents allege lack of barricades, warning signs, and covers caused the hazard, affecting pedestrians, schoolchildren, and two-wheeler riders.

Social activist Vivek Tiwari launched a poster campaign demanding the resignation of municipal engineer Pradeep Pachange over deteriorating roads.
