Booming bus fleet : Lko still awaits basic shelters in expanding neighbourhoods

Lucknow City Transport Services Limited (LCTSL) floated its fifth tender for maintenance and upgrade of 40 bus passenger shelters through private participation.

Four previous tenders failed to attract bidders, reportedly due to high bidding costs.

Areas like Sushant Golf City, Ekana Stadium, Lulu Mall, Gomti Nagar Vistar, SGPGI, and Vrindavan Colony lack designated bus shelters despite bus fleet expansion.

An HT inspection found many existing shelters in poor condition with broken benches, damaged roofs, and rusted structures.

LCTSL managing director Vimal Rajan said there is currently no proposal to construct new shelters in areas without any.
