Don’t allow yoga sessions in gurdwaras: Jathedar

Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj directed gurdwara management committees not to organize or permit yoga sessions within gurdwara premises.

He clarified that individuals may perform yoga exercises at home, but organizing them in gurdwaras, including langar halls or diwan halls, conflicts with Sikh teachings.

Giani Gargaj explained that the common form of yoga involves physical exercises and breathing techniques, which distract from the Guru's message and Gurbani.

The directive follows concerns raised by Sikh youths about yoga programs being conducted at some gurdwaras.
