Fire breaks out at 12-storey government building in Lucknow; ops underway

Fire broke out at the 12-storey Jawahar Bhawan government building in Lucknow's Hazratganj on July 20, 2026, around 10 am.

The blaze erupted at the treasury office on an upper floor after government offices had opened for the day.

Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot; Lucknow Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal confirmed the fire was brought under control.

All people inside the building were evacuated safely, and no casualties have been reported.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained; ten fire tenders remain at the spot.
