India firm on 'energy drink' crackdown despite Pepsi, Red Bull, Monster protest

India's food regulator FSSAI is enforcing a crackdown on products labeled as 'energy drinks' despite protests from Pepsi, Red Bull, and Monster.

FSSAI Chief Executive Rajit Punhani rejected industry arguments about business impact during a closed-door meeting with senior executives.

Punhani stated that companies are free to challenge the decision in court, according to two people familiar with the discussion.
