NYC Mayor Mamdani snubbed at funeral of soldier killed in Iranian missile strike: Report
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani was reportedly not allowed to deliver a eulogy at the funeral of Army Sgt. Angel Sarah Rampersad in Queens on Friday.
Rampersad's family, described as supporters of President Donald Trump, allegedly did not want Mamdani to speak to avoid political distractions.
Mamdani was seated in the fourth row and appeared frustrated after his name was never called.
Mamdani's office later released his prepared remarks, paying tribute to the 28-year-old soldier.
Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at the service; Rampersad was among three US soldiers killed on July 17 in an Iranian missile attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
