Bengaluru entrepreneur alleges 50% rent hike, eviction

Vasant Marimuthu, founder and CEO of Teestra Lifestyle, claimed his landlady hiked his rent by 50% and then asked him to vacate with 30 days' notice.

Marimuthu said the landlady had raised rent above the usual 5-10% every year, and this year she asked for a 50% increase.

When Marimuthu requested a fresh rent agreement, the landlady said her sister needed the property and gave him a 30-day notice.

The house is located in JP Nagar, Bengaluru, and Marimuthu said he had paid rent on time but had seen increases of 20% every 11 months.
