Monsoon Triggers Dengue Surge In Pune; 300 Suspected Cases Reported In Just 6 Weeks

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reported 300 suspected dengue cases between June and mid-July 2026, nearly two-thirds of the 473 total cases since January.

Dengue cases surged from 58 in May to 175 in June, and 125 more in the first half of July.

Kothrud and Karvenagar are the areas with higher concentrations of cases.

Continuous rainfall and waterlogging from the monsoon have created breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue.

PMC health officials advise residents to seek medical attention for symptoms like high fever, body ache, headache, and pain behind the eyes.
