Uganda Wildlife Authority translocates 12 endangered Nubian giraffes from Murchison Falls National Park to Ajai Wildlife Reserve.
The relocation aims to protect the giraffes from threats including oil drilling, habitat pressure, climate change, and human activity.
Ajai Wildlife Reserve, where wildlife was wiped out by poaching in the early 1980s, is undergoing ecological restoration and species reintroduction.
Giraffes were transported 106 kilometers (65 miles) with tree branches provided to keep them calm during the journey.
Local communities are engaged in and benefit from conservation efforts to foster coexistence between development and wildlife preservation.
