Tripura: TMP announces party restructure after village council polls

TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma announced a party restructure following the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) village council elections, expected in September.
Debbarma stated that 'opportunistic people' will not be allowed in the party, and the restructure will affect the YTF, TWF, TISF, TCF, and TIPRA Motha party wings.
The Supreme Court directed the state Election Commission to hold the village council polls by the first week of September 2026, after a petition by TRP chief.
The five-year term of the elected village committees ended in 2021, but no elections have been held since.
The final electoral roll for the TTAADC village council poll lists 9,61,760 electorates across 58 blocks, with a majority being female voters.
