Tencent manager fired after payslip leak
Tencent fired a project manager surnamed Ye after his payslip showing a 3.17 million yuan annual package went viral on Chinese social media.
Ye worked in Tencent's Weixin Group, the division behind the WeChat super app with over 1.3 billion users.
His package included a cash bonus over 820,000 yuan and stock incentives worth over 2.35 million yuan, according to the South China Morning Post.
Tencent cited leaking confidential corporate information as the reason for termination, permanently blacklisting Ye from future employment.
The payslip leak contained an internal Tencent watermark, and Ye had received the company's highest performance rating twice the previous year.
