Nolan Wells autopsy completed; mother pledges to fight

Nolan Wells' mother, Christine Wonsley, promised on Facebook to continue fighting for truth after the state autopsy was completed.

The state autopsy results were completed on July 7, with findings first going to a grand jury before public release.

The family has initiated an independent investigation and an independent autopsy due to fears the death will be ruled accidental drowning.

The independent autopsy by Dr. Roger Mitchell, paid for by Colin Kaepernick, could not determine cause of death because parts of the neck were not shipped with the body.

Wells, an 18-year-old Black football player from Mississippi, was reported missing on July 4 at Horn Island and his body was found on July 6.
