Vidyavihar crash: Sessions court revokes minor driver’s bail
A sessions court in Mumbai revoked bail for the 17-year-old driver in the Vidyavihar crash and sent him to a child reformative centre.
The court quashed the Juvenile Justice Board's March 6, 2026 bail order and directed the Suburban Juvenile Justice Board in Dongri to secure the juvenile's presence and pass orders for his placement.
The appeal was filed by Minal Patel, wife of the deceased Dhrumil Patel, arguing the JJB ignored evidence of dangerous driving videos and alleged witness tampering.
The juvenile was accused of causing the February 5 crash near Somaiya College in Vidyavihar, where an SUV he allegedly drove without a license struck the Patels' scooter, leading to Dhrumil's death 10 days later.
Police added the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case.
