Cong warns of agitation over delay in starting Metro Line 3

Congress warns of massive agitation if Shivajinagar-Hinjewadi Metro Line 3 passenger services are not launched without further delay.

The project received provisional authorization from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on July 23, 2026.

PMRDA is awaiting a date from the state government for inauguration, possibly coordinated with the Prime Minister's Office.

Former MLA Mohan Joshi argues no justification for delay after safety clearance, suggests inauguration can happen later.

The 23.2-km corridor is expected to provide a public transport alternative for commuters between Hinjewadi IT Park and Shivajinagar.
