Heavy rainfall on the Pedernales River watershed reached up to one foot since 12am CDT Thursday, causing the river's highest level since 1979.
The Lower Colorado River Authority opened multiple floodgates at Wirtz Dam and Starcke Dam, sending water downstream through Lake Marble Falls into Lake Travis.
Lake Travis is 85% full and expected to rise by up to 10 feet in the next few days, posing a massive flood risk.
Meteorologist Avery Tomasco warned the situation could escalate into a 'generational flood event.'
