AIP demands priority passage for fruit-laden trucks from Srinagar

AIP demanded priority passage for fruit-laden trucks from Srinagar to the rest of India, especially via the Srinagar-Jammu National highway.

Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, AIP state secretary and former president of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, called fruit industry the backbone of Kashmir's economy and a livelihood source for lakhs of families.

Ahmad urged the government to ensure smooth, hassle-free and timely movement of fruit trucks during the harvest season.

He requested dedicated corridors, 24x7 clearance, and avoidance of long halts at checkpoints on the highway.

He also demanded proper highway maintenance and timely updates on weather disruptions for alternate arrangements.
