Gautham Menon faces legal setback as Supreme Court upholds repayment

The Supreme Court upheld a Madras High Court order requiring director Gautham Menon to repay Rs 4.25 crore with 12% annual interest to producer Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment.

The dispute originated from a 2008 film agreement between Gautham Menon and RS Infotainment to produce a film starring Simbu, for which an advance of Rs 4.25 crore was paid.

The Madras High Court rejected Menon's defense that the 2012 film 'Neethaane En Ponvasantham' fulfilled the 2008 agreement, finding it was produced under a separate 2011 contract.

The Supreme Court dismissed Menon's appeal, finding no grounds to interfere with the High Court's findings, making the repayment order final.
