Pune: Austrian Scholars PhD At SPPU Remains Incomplete After 12 Years Amid Delay Dispute

Austrian scholar Alexander Reisenbichler's PhD at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) remains incomplete after 12 years, with disputes over the cause.

Reisenbichler alleges lack of cooperation from his guide and former Head of Department caused delays, citing conflicting guidance on online documentation since 2021.

Guide Dr. John Gaikwad and former Head Dr. Anjali Kurane deny allegations, citing administrative issues like a lost file and missed coursework.

Gaikwad says an extension request in December 2021 was not actioned, and by February 2024 the scholar had exceeded the maximum registration period.

SPPU Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Parag Kalkar advises the scholar to file a formal complaint for possible special extension if delay is not his fault.
