Remove encroachments along Ganga in Patna in 6 weeks: SC to Bihar govt

The Supreme Court ordered the Bihar government to remove encroachments between Nauzar Ghat and Nurpur Ghat in Patna within six weeks.

The court also imposed a status quo on ongoing construction near the Yamuna River in Vrindavan, Mathura, citing ecological concerns.

The court was informed that out of 213 encroachments in Patna, 58 were demolished, but 145 remain due to interim court orders.

The bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan stressed maintaining ecological flow of water in the Ganga.
