Two earthquakes struck Peru's Chupaca province in the Junín region, killing at least 5 and injuring 21.
The quakes measured magnitudes 5.1 and 3.7, according to Peru's National Seismological Center.
About 48 homes were destroyed and 18 damaged, affecting around 300 people who are being provided tents.
Homes in the affected communities are generally rudimentary adobe structures.
Peru lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, which accounts for roughly 85% of the world's seismic activity.
