Rock star Nathan James's father Bill McGinley found dead

Musician Nathan James's father, Bill McGinley, was found dead on a bike trail in Coyote Run Open Space, Louisville, on July 30, 2026, after a cycling accident.

McGinley, 72, had gone missing following his morning bike ride on July 29; his cause of death has not been revealed.

Nathan James flew from California to Colorado to search for his father and confirmed the news in an Instagram video, calling his dad his best friend.

Bill McGinley was a former professor of Literacy Studies at the University of Colorado and founded an online performance poetry journal.

James urged fans to cherish loved ones and thanked those who helped in the search.
