Coast Guard airlifts ailing seafarer from ship off Gujarat coast despite rough seas, adverse weather

Indian Coast Guard airlifted a 21-year-old seafarer from MT Murlikisan off Porbandar, Gujarat coast on 26 July 2026.

The patient suffered acute chest pain and high fever, requiring urgent medical attention.

An ICG Advanced Light Helicopter winched the seafarer from the vessel and transported him to the Coast Guard Air Enclave at Porbandar.

ICG doctors provided initial stabilisation before shifting the patient to a hospital for further treatment.

The evacuation was executed despite rough seas and adverse weather, coordinated by MRCC Mumbai and CGDHQ-1 Porbandar.
