Dry summer sends Cauvery On Wheels demand soaring Bengaluru

Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board's 'Cauvery On Wheels' service saw 67,397 orders supplying 311.8 million litres of Cauvery water between May 2025 and July 24, 2026.

Orders nearly doubled from 4,490 in April to 7,623 in May 2026, with water supply rising from 33.9 million litres to 66.3 million litres.

East Bengaluru accounted for 36,625 orders (over half of all bookings), consuming 178.1 million litres and generating Rs 4.3 crore in revenue.

Nearly 60% of bookings were bulk orders from apartment complexes; high-demand areas included Whitefield, Doddakannelli, and Kalkere.

The service generated over Rs 7 crore in revenue and aimed to reduce dependence on private tanker operators in areas without Cauvery water access.
