‘Murder-for-gain’: Bengaluru man kills neighbour for gold to repay gaming debts, dumps body in lake
year-old Gagan R was arrested for murdering his 61-year-old neighbor Jayamma in Challaghatta, Bengaluru.
Gagan strangled Jayamma on July 15, 2026, to steal her gold jewelry and repay debts from online gaming.
He stuffed Jayamma's body into a trolley suitcase, transported it on his motorcycle, and dumped it in Ramohalli Lake.
Jayamma's son filed a missing person complaint after she failed to return home; locals spotted the suitcase in the lake on July 21.
Police recovered the decomposing body, registered a murder case, and arrested Gagan, who confessed to stealing and selling the jewelry.
