India's F1 push: Sports Ministry grants NSF status to motor-sport body FMSCI

India's Sports Ministry granted provisional recognition to the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) as a National Sports Federation (NSF).

The recognition aims to boost coordination between the government and FMSCI to support Formula 1's return to India.

FMSCI must amend its constitution to comply with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, within stipulated timelines.

The government will revoke recognition if FMSCI fails to meet guidelines on financial probity, anti-doping, or governance.

Sports Minister Manuskh Mandaviya plans to form a Task Force with FMSCI and other stakeholders to evaluate hosting major motorsport events, targeting an F1 race by 2028.
