TN assembly speaker clarifies rules for arrest of sitting MLA

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J C D Prabhakar clarified that the Speaker's office has no role in arrests of MLAs.

The clarification follows the arrest of DMK MLA Markandayan G V for alleged remarks against chief minister C Joseph Vijay.

Speaker Prabhakar made the statement on Tuesday.

The arrest relates to remarks made by Markandayan G V about the chief minister.
