Assam floods: Death toll climbs to 80, 2 lakh remain affected in 4 districts

The Assam flood death toll rose to 80 after two more deaths in Sivasagar district, including a boy who drowned.
Over 2,12,400 people remain affected across Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat and Sivasagar districts, down from over 3 lakh on Wednesday.
Charaideo is the worst-hit with nearly 80,000 people affected, followed by Sivasagar (71,000) and Jorhat (40,000).
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) operates 112 relief camps, sheltering 75,583 people, with aid from the Army, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies.
Flooding has submerged 437 villages and damaged 17,198.09 hectares of crops; the Dhansiri River flows above danger level in Numaligarh.
